Why is it important to attend regular dental examinations?

Many people often go years without a visit to the dentist. Whether it’s due to fear or because they think their teeth don’t have any problems.

Regular appointments with a dentist are essential to maintaining good oral health. Here at Hello dental we recommend dental check-ups at least every six months.

Even if you think your teeth are in good condition, you should maintain regular check-up appointments. At Hello Dental we are committed to providing preventative dentistry. At your dental examinations the dentist can spot any problems even before you have noticed any symptoms yourself, and the earlier we can begin treatment, the quicker and more comfortable the treatment is likely to be.

There are several routine parts to a dental examination…

  • Examination of the face and neck, checking your lymph nodes and glands.

  • Checking your Jaw joint, chewing muscles and bit – the way your teeth come together

  • Examinations of your gums, looking for signs of gum diseases.

  • We check the soft tissues inside the mouth and screen for oral cancer.

  • We examine the health of your teeth, looking for signs of decay, broken teeth, damaged fillings and loose teeth.

  • The dentist will then take x-rays and photographs.

Once your examination is complete, the dentist will tell you about the health of your teeth and gums and then make any additional recommendations.

Remember, by seeing your dentist on a regular basis and following daily good oral hygiene practices at home, you are more likely to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
