Healthy Treat Ideas for Kids

It’s important to give your child healthy, sugar-free snacks between meals to prevent tooth decay. When it comes to your child’s diet it’s not just about what they have but how often they have it. There are some snack foods that can be harmful to children’s teeth if eaten frequently. These include fizzy drinks, sweets, chocolate confectionery, fruit juices, sugary desserts, highly sweetened cereals and sugared sticky yogurts.

Here’s a recipe for Sugar Free Brownie Bliss Balls

These delicious chocolate brownie morsels are nutrient dense and free of the naughty stuff. Keep a batch on hand in the fridge to stave off chocolate cravings.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups (150g) walnuts

  • 1 1/2 cups (240g) pitted dates

  • 1/2 cup cocoa

  • 1/2 cup (45g) desiccated coconut

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

  • 1/2 tsp salt

Gather your ingredients. You will need a food processor for this recipe.

Blitz walnuts and dates for 1-2 minutes until finely processed.

Add remaining ingredients and blitz until mixture resembles a coarse paste.

Using damp hands, form into heaped teaspoon size balls. Refrigerate for two hours to set.

Enjoy!
